About Memorial Dental Care

Porcelain Fillings (Inlay / Onlay Fillings)

Porcelain fillings are prepared in the laboratory with superior aesthetics and durability. Compared to composite fillings, it is much more compatible with the teeth to which they are applied and neighboring teeth. This is due to the ability of the filler to be prepared in a laboratory environment outside the mouth. After the broken, rotten or old filled part of the tooth is removed, the measurement of the remaining solid part is taken and sent to the laboratory. In the laboratory environment, the model prepared with a sensitive technology is taken to the special IPS machine and fillings with excellent aesthetics and function are enabled. IPS porcelain (Leucide reinforced pressable porcelain) fillings are the most suitable material for dental tissue among the oral restoration materials available in the world. The most advanced technology is used in the preparation of this porcelain filling. In the IPS filling method, healthy dental tissue in the mouth is not touched. Maximum retention is achieved with minimum loss of substance. The edge leakage is minimal since they are made of a special compressed porcelain and are not hardened in the mouth (This prevents underfilling caries and falling down of fillings) In addition, these porcelains are the materials closest to the hardness of the tooth and the most compatible with the gingiva. Since its hardness is very close to the enamel tissue of the tooth, it does not corrode teeth like other porcelains, nor does it wear like composite fillings. Especially in large material losses, composite filling or crown (coating) should be preferred.

Preventive Dentistry

The milk-tooth series and the subsequent mixed-tooth series develop during the period when the child's growth is most active. The first milk tooth begins to appear in the 6th month. Different group milk teeth fall from time to time and leave their place to permanent milk teeth. This condition lasts until the age of 12. In this process, early milk tooth losses may affect jaw development, leading to aesthetic and speech disorders. All treatments applied to permanent teeth can also be applied to milk teeth.

Treatment of children's teeth (Pedodontics) is a separate branch of dentistry that requires a specialist approach. Also, skeletal jaw development in the child's growth process should be kept under control by the Orthodontic specialist. Our clinic performs precautions and treatments to ensure that children of developmental age have a healthy tooth and mouth structure with their specialist physicians on these issues.

Two other preventive treatment methods are fissure sealant, which is applied to increase the caries resistance of milk teeth, which means ""closure of caries-prone areas with topical fluoride"". When the child is 6 years old, the first molar tooth takes its place in the mouth. These teeth, which function for the longest and most functionally, must be protected against caries by applying fissure sealant topical fluorine.

Early Precautions and minor interventions for preventive purposes enable children to smile at older ages without any disorders.

As a result of all this, it is necessary to give great importance to oral and dental health in children with milk teeth. Parents are fully in charge for the first 6 years of oral and dental health. During this period, the importance of oral and dental health should be taught to children.

Aesthetic Dentistry

In our clinic, various solutions are offered not only in the treatment of oral and dental health problems, but also in oral and dental aesthetics. It is possible to provide a new smile to the patient with laminated, porcelain veneer, gingival touch-ups and whitening methods.

Whitening

Discolorations caused by the structure of the teeth and causing poor appearance, which can not be removed by brushing teeth or surface cleaning processes such as cleaning the tooth stones, can be removed with the method of bleaching. Teeth Whitening System, which provides permanent cleaning without damaging your teeth, is now at Memorial Hospital!

  • This new system applied with Light Emiting Diode (LED) light source and special whitening gel is the product of a very advanced technology. Since the rate of hydrogen perolmite, which is 38% in the bleaching system applied so far, has been reduced by 15%, the rate of sensitivity elimination after application has been reduced to very high levels.
  • You can get an average of 8 times whiter teeth with the whitening system.
  • Fast - This professional system, which is applied in three times of 20 minutes, gets you white teeth in 1 hour in your comfortable seat.
  • Reliable - The Whitening System, which has been proven to be reliable by clinical researches in the USA, does not harm tooth enamel and fillers. It is also completely painless.

Laminate Veners

The completion of this procedure takes approximately three steps.

  1. At the first appointment, the smile design you want to have is worked on, and the computer-supported smile design is chosen among the many smiles that suits you, and the smile you want to have is decided.
  2. During your next visit, your teeth are shaped and models are prepared, and at this stage it is decided whether they are suitable or not by trying these in your mouth.
  3. On the last visit, the porcelain veneers, whose color has been adjusted, are glued.

Porcelain laminate veneers are the most effective and conservative method that can be applied to change tooths’ color, sizes and shape. They are adhered to the front tooth surface inorder to mask bad colorings or change the shape of the tooth and are resistant to recoloring.

Porcelain laminate veneers are very thin porcelain leaves and are glued to the front faces of the teeth by a process called bonding. This procedure is like fake nails. Their thickness is not more than the thickness of a lens, and it is a conservative and harmless procedure as little abrasion is made on the surface of the tooth.

Laminate veneers can be an ideal solution for you to change your smile and make it more pleasant. This procedure, which does not even require anesthesia, can be an alternative solution to have whiter teeth, close colorings, and improve your smile. In addition, it is highly resistant to coffee, tea and even cigarette coloration after it is made and does not recolor. It is aesthetically superior to other restorative options.

Prosthetic Dental Treatment

Non-Metal supported Full Porcelain Crowns

Metal-free crowns are made of reinforced porcelain. Although many things affect the appearance of crowns, the most important is their reaction to light. Natural teeth transmit light. As a result, depth and vitality appear in the tooth. Due to the translucency of metal-free porcelain crowns (full porcelain), their depth and vitality are higher, so that the closest results to the natural tooth are obtained.

  • Full porcelains create an aesthetic very similar to the natural tooth structure as they pass the light, while metal porcelains have a dullness and artificiality even if they are made very well. For this reason, full porcelains are preferred especially in the front teeth.
  • Metal bases porcelains give a dark gap appearance in some lights (disco, camera flash, etc.) as if they are not locating in the mouth. Full porcelains transmit all kinds of light, just like natural teeth.
  • Metal supported porcelains are mechanically glue to the tooth. Full porcelains are attached to the tooth mechanically and chemically. Therefore, their stickiness is much higher than metal supports.
  • Since there is no metal in the substructure, there is no dark line at the crown-gum level. More aesthetic look is gained.
  • When the gum is receded, full porcelains keeps their aesthetic appearance, while metal porcelains create a bad image in the area where they merge with the tooth.
  • There is no allergy risk that may occur against some metals (nickel, etc.) used in the infrastructure in full porcelains

Non-Metal supported Bridges

Metal Supported Bridges are obtained by compressing reinforced porcelain in special machines. It is preferred especially in the front teeth due to its very good light transmittance.

Non-Metal supported Zirconium Based Bridges

In this system, zirconium alloy, a white color, is used instead of metal. The biggest advantage of the system is to provide a full aesthetic appearance on the bridges in the back region with the very high durability it achieves.

Total-Partial Prosthetics

Total Prosthetics

Total prostheses are a procedure that can be performed if there are no teeth left in your mouth. These are the prosthesis called as 'palate prosthesis' among the people, which can stay in the mouth with vacuum force by taking support from the bone tissue remaining in the upper and lower jaw, made of acrylic. It is difficult to use in normal conditions, it can be performed in cases where special health conditions such as implants cannot be used. At the point where modern dentistry reached today, there is no mush use remain. It should be renewed every 5 years. It is generally not correct to use porcelain teeth in total proteshis in terms of health, therefore plastic teeth are used, but they can cause discoloration. For this, you can clean your prosthesis with special preparations sold in pharmacies.

Partial Prosthetics

Partial prosthesis completes your smile by filling the gaps due to missing teeth. However, the partial prosthesis helps you to fulfill the chewing function, which is not only performed aesthetically but also functionally, due to missing teeth. It also helps you to pronounce words more properly by eliminating phonetic problems that occur in your speech. It also provides support for tissue that is lost due to a lack of teeth, and supports the lips and cheeks, and thus collapses and sagging on the face can be eliminated. Partial prosthesis is a removable procedure that can be used if implant or fixed bridge prosthesis cannot be used as a solution in cases where there are many teeth deficiencies. This prosthesis can be attached to the teeth in the mouth by crochets, or it can be attached to the teeth with precise holders hidden inside the teeth, and they can be provided with a more aesthetic appearance.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a discipline that deals with correcting distorted teeth and eliminating incompatibilities in teeth, jaw and face.

By correcting the distortions in the teeth, an important aesthetic is provided, as well as many contributions to the oral and dental health. By eliminating the distortions, these areas can be cleaned more easily and effectively, thereby preventing caries and gum diseases. Besides, healthier chewing function is gained as the closure of teeth and jaws will improve.

When children are about 7 years old, they should be consulted by an orthodontic specialist.

Treatment:

  1. Fixed orthodontic appliances: It is a treatment made with brachets adhered on the tooth. The brachets can be made of metal or porcelain. Dental colored porcelain brachets do not cause any aesthetic discomfort.
  2. Removable orthodontic appliances: These are the appliances that the patient himself can put on and take off. They are applied in simpler cases.
  3. Jaw orthopedics: It is an orthodontic area that aims to correct the disrupted relations of the lower and upper jaw with special apparatuses attached to the face at a young age. Often orthopedic treatment (alignment of the jaws is ensured) and orthodontic treatment (closing of the teeth are ensured) are carried out together.
  4. Orthognathic surgery: Orthognathic surgery is applied in such cases which cannot be corrected by orthodontic or orthopedic treatment. Jaw and facial disorders may arise from birth or later due to accidents and diseases. Incompatibility of the jaws with each other and face causes both aesthetic and functional disorders in patients. These disorders can be corrected by advanced surgical technology and techniques.
  5. Invisalign: In some simple cases without the use of a brachets,  crowding can now be corrected with the use of transparent molds. It is necessary to wear these special molds, which will be changed every two weeks, for approximately 20 hours a day. Each treatment requires an average of 60 pairs (lower-upper jaw) of different corrective molds. The treatment period is close to the treatment period in brachets. It varies between 6 months and 24 months depending on the case.

Orthodontics in Adults: There is no age limit for orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment can be applied to anyone who has healthy bones surrounding the teeth. In addition, the brackets are now made of porcelain in tooth color. Thus, no one can easily notice your brackets. The treatment lasts between 3 months and 30 months depending on the patient's problem and age.

Gum Diseases

Gum diseases (Periodontal diseases) are diseases affecting the gums and other tissues supporting the teeth. Periodontal diseases are cause for 70% of tooth loss in adults. Periodontal diseases can be easily and successfully treated if diagnosed early. Periodontal diseases begin with gingivitis. Gingivitis is an early period of periodontal disease. During this period, the gums  bleeds, becomes red and grew in volume. It may not cause much discomfort in the early period. Bleeding is the most important symptom during tooth brushing. If untreated, the disease can progress to periodontitis, causing irreversible damage to the alveolar bone that supports the gums and teeth.

Periodontitis is a far more stage of periodontal diseases. Along with other tissues that support the teeth, damage to the alveolar bone also occurs. A periodontal pocket arises between the tooth and gums. The presence of periodontal pocket facilitates the placement of the infection and the progression of the disease. As the disease progresses, the teeth begin to sway, and even go to the shoot.

However, periodontal disease can reach advanced stages without any evidence. Therefore, it is extremely important to go to the dentist at regular periods.

Treatment of gum disease

Treatment of gum disease involves removing attachments (plaque and calculus) on the teeth and ensuring a smooth root surface. This process ensures the removal of bacteria and irritants that cause inflammation in the gums. Generally, this treatment is sufficient for adaptation of the gum to the tooth or for the gum to shrink and eliminate the pocket. In the majority of cases in the early period of gum disease, daily dental care followed by cleaning of the teeth, plaque removal and maintaining a smooth root surface is sufficient for successful treatment. More improved cases may require surgical treatment. The purpose of this treatment is to clean the teeth of the deep periodontal pockets surrounding the teeth, to eliminate the pocket by shrinking, to provide a smooth root surface and to create a gum form that is easier to clean.

After periodontal treatment, patients should be examined regularly by the dentist, plaque contro should be done and new dental stone deposits should be removed. But it should not be forgotten that; no procedure can be more beneficial for the maintenance of those achieved through periodontal treatment than the daily oral care procedures of the person.

Implantology

Implants are small titanium pieces that are placed in the jaw bone to complete dental deficiencies. These parts act as natural tooth roots. They are placed in the jaw bone by a simple surgical procedure. As titanium is tissue friendly, the bone wraps the placed implant and forms a solid foundation for the new done teeth. After the measurement and fitting stages, new teeth are prepared for use and your tooth deficiencies are completed without damaging your natural teeth.

Since it prevents bone loss in tooth deficiency, implants keeps the face shape. Implants are usually placed in two stages. In the first stage, the implant is placed on your jaw bone. The compliance of the implant with the jawbone is expected in the next 2-4 months. When the implants are fixed on your jaw bone, the second stage is started. The implants are opened and small metal pieces that will support your permanent protheses are attached to the implants. Your prostheses will look extremely natural when placed over them. With this method, your other natural teeth are not damaged, only missing teeth are filled. While implants provide a better speech and chewing function compared to traditional bridges and prostheses, it also brings a natural appearance on your face. When applied with the correct diagnosis, sufficient knowledge, experience and equipment, dental implant is a form of treatment that can give extraordinary successful results for patients and physicians.

Treatment

Bacterial plaque, which consists of bacteria in the mouth and their adhesive secretion dextran, makes acid from the leftovers of sugary and floury foods. These acids dissolve the mineral tissue of the teeth and results deteriorate of tooth enemal and starts caries.

The first sign of dental caries is a white stain on the surface of the tooth. At this stage, the caries can be stopped and reduced. The white stain shows mineral loss in which part of the enamel. After a while, the mineral loss grows like making a hole. If this loss continues, the soft inner parts of the tooth are also affected and the destructive process is accelerated. Treatment will be a major filling at best.

Dental Fillings

Composite Fillings:

Composite fillings are tooth-colored fillings used for caries, fractures and aesthetics. These fillings are placed layer by layer in prepared cavities and each layer is cured with a special light. They are aesthetic and economical. Since they can hold onto the tooth with a special adhesive called bonding, they do not cause unnecessary loss of substance in the tooth. Their lifetime is not as long as porcelain fillings, as there may be a very small shrinkage during hardening. Composite fillers can change color depending on the use of substances containing coloring agents such as cigarettes, tea, coffee, cola, soy.

The edge leakage is minimal since they are made of a special compressed porcelain and are not hardened in the mouth (This prevents underfilling caries and  falling down of fillings)

In addition, these porcelains are the materials closest to the hardness of the tooth and the most compatible with the gingiva. Since its hardness is very close to the enamel tissue of the tooth, it does not corrode teeth like other porcelains, nor does it wear like composite fillings. Especially in large material losses, composite filling or crown (coating) should be preferred.

Root Canal Treatment

Canal treatment is the removal of nerves that cause pain by cleaning the pulp of the tooth. Although tooth extraction is a cheaper treatment method, the loss of a solid tooth creates a difficult gap to fill, which is more costly and difficult treatment with bridge prosthesis or implant application.

Purpose in root canal treatment:

The purpose of the canal treatment is to clean the problematic parts of the teeth, which can be lost due to caries, to keep them in the mouth for a long time, and to prevent further treatments that will be challenging both materially and spiritually due to tooth loss. The remaining tooth by applying canal treatment in the mouth will continue to help chew in that area, thus preventing the melting of the jaw bones as well as the bone in that area remains active.

What happens if the roots canal treatment is not applied?

In cases where the pulp cannot heal itself due to deep caries and cracks, the tooth loses its vitality and the infection can spread to the whole tooth. If no canal treatment is applied, the infection can reach the tissues at the root end. The jaw bone surrounding the tooth is also inflamed and worn. An abscess is happen in this space. Pain and swelling are accompanied and the tooth is lost in a short time.

How is root canal treatment applied?

Treatment can take 1-3 sessions depending on the condition of the tooth. During treatment, the dentist removes the diseased pulp, disinfects, expands, shapes and finally tightens and covers the root canals. In some cases, medication may also be placed in the pulp chamber and root canals to remove bacteria. In cases of severe infection, the dentist may also recommend taking pills.

Mouth Tooth Jaw Diseases And Surgery

Oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures that we performed in our dental clinic are as follows:

Orthognathic Surgery

It is a procedure applied in cases where the upper and lower jaw do not meet and are not closed properly. The positions of your teeth are corrected with orthodontics and the jaws are brought to their normal locations surgically. It is a very important application for the teeth to perform their functions in a healthy way as well as the aesthetic appearance.

Embedded Wisdom Teeth

An adult person has a total of 32 teeth in his mouth. Each of these teeth takes on a separate task. While the teeth (incisors, canines, pre-molars) in front of the mouth serve to cut and smash the food; the teeth in the back (molars) grind food, allowing them to be easily swallowed. However, many times our mouth is big enough that only 28 teeth can fit, and the remaining 4 third molars (also known as the wisdom tooth or 20-year-old tooth) often cause us various problems.

When these teeth are properly continue, if the gum is healthy, they can remain in the mouth. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. They do not open the gums completely and apply trapezoid.  Sometimes they are completely embeded under the gum. An wisdom teeth trapped in the jawbone looks for a place to go by changing positions, but cannot find it.

When the tooth cannot fully apply, bacteria settles easily in the surrounding half-opened gum and inflammation begins. When trapezoid lasts, it puts pressure on other teeth and distorts a proper dental array. The most important problem that may arise is the melt of the jaw bone due to the cyst and tumor that will occur around the embedded wisdom teeth.

All these problems are treated with tooth extraction. Extraction of wisdom teeth at an early stage is an procedure we recommend in terms of preventing future problems.

Facial Traumas

Facial injuries are physical and mental traumas for patients. Facial injuries can have several causes: Motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, work accidents, etc. As a result of these injuries, many condition can develop such as from  teeth dislocation to the cut inside and outside the mouth and from simple bone fractures to complicated jaw fractures. In our clinic, all treatments are performed with the intervention of specialist physicians.
